There are many prayers that we read in the Bible. In facts there are tons of prayers recorded in the Bible over 650 prayers according to a Google search. These are beautiful prayers and teach us many things. One of the most beautiful things they do is teach us how to pray.
Self Entitled Attitude
Do not pray with a self entitled attitude. As a human, you are like a rat in the maze and do not fully understand what is going on around you. You do not have the BIG PICTURE. In the Lord Jesus name, all your prayers are answered. Just think of someone asking you for something with a self entitled attitude, like they deserve whatever it is they are asking from your hand. Is that they way to ask something, is that they way to be?
Faith
The most necessary virtue that you will manifest is Faith, when you pray. The very act of prayer is a work of Faith. "Faith without works is dead": as our brother in Christ; James states at James 2:17. So prayer is the first step in manifesting your Godly devotion to Him.
Humility
Let's not forget humility when we pray. Think about who you are praying to; the very creator of the universe and life itself. Empty yourself when you approach The One, The Ancient of Days, The Alpha and Omega; yes, The One that knows the end of from the beginning.
The Connection
When you think of a cell phone, you think of your connection to others. Perhaps the ones you love, so you posses this device in order to make this connection happen. However, we have always had prayer and the connection is provides is better than any cell phone. The signal is always strong, always on and always there for you. You were born with the signal, it is apart of who you are.
How To Pray
Evidently & inherently like eating, we were born with this signal. John the Baptizer taught his disciples how to pray. He of course would encourage them to pray prayers of repentance. Interestingly enough, John's followers were instructed to follow Jesus Christ. It would only be a necessary question in their mind then to ask how to pray. Let's read that event that happened.
And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
3 Give us day by day our daily bread.
4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. Luke 11:1-4
Can You Imagine?
I get chills when I really think of this and take it in. Imagine our Lord speaking to His Father; you are there, just wondering and taking in the moment: observing a real conversation taking place. It almost reminds me when the in ear bluetooth device with mic first came out. You would see a person on the street corner as if they were nut's and it appeared as if they were speaking to themselves. Anyway, that disciple who asked that question must of been watching in amazement. He must of witnessed a connection that Jesus had with the Father that drew the disciple.
Pray with Confidence
If God answered you back within your prayer like a human does when conversing on the phone, you would not be able to take it. Many people think they want to hear God's voice, however the reality of this is much different. We have an example of this when the Israelites at first told Moses that they want to speak to God directly. When they were given this chance, they never wanted to do it again.
18 And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.
19 And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die. Exodus 20:18,19
Things You Must Know
Here is what you must know. God does hear you when you pray, everytime, all the time, and anytime. Your answer might not be what you expected, in fact it will probably never be what you expected. It will always be better. Why? Because you do not have the big picture, you do not understand everything like He does. And for Heavens sake, never be self entitled and presumptuous in your prayer. Do not ask for material things, or money, this is all foolishness with God.
Cursing God
Ah, we live in an age, where people think it is funny and acceptable to Curse God. Maybe to them because they are evil. These ones speak directly to God with arrogance, pride and all kinds of evil filth. They will get what they deserve for sure if they do not repent.
Repent & Confess
If you are reading and understanding this for the first time, repent and confess your sins to God Almighty in Jesus name. Surrender everything to Him. He does know your pain, even more than you do. He is tender hearted and compassionate. Love Him more than you love your own life, more than you love anyone. If you do what I say, you will never be disappointed again!
