You ever wonder what the Easter bunny has to do with the sacrifice of Jesus Christ? Well the short answer is absolutely nothing. Easter originated as a Pagan holiday.
Origins of Easter
Eostre, also known as Ostara, is an Anglo-Saxon goddess associated with spring, fertility, and rebirth. She is believed to be the namesake for the Christian holiday of Easter, which was originally a pagan festival celebrating the spring equinox. Eostre's symbols include hares and eggs, representing fertility and new life. As Christianity spread, it adopted and adapted some pagan customs, including elements of Easter, to blend with existing Christian practices.
What is Your Attitude?
So some Christians say that they know Easter is Pagan but they don't really care. They color the eggs, have statues of the Easter Bunny and so forth. Other Christians do not want to associate our faith with Pagan holidays and we feel the same way. Notice what Paul said about putting our Christian Faith under the same umbrella as Pagan things.
14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what [a]fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what [b]communion has light with darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? 16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you[c] are the temple of the living God. As God has said:
“I will dwell in them
And walk among them.
I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.”
17 Therefore
“Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you.”
18 “I will be a Father to you,
And you shall be My sons and daughters,
Says the Lord Almighty.” 2 Cor 6:14-18
Isn't Passover Good Enough?
When we add things like Pagan holidays into our Faith and observances it is like we are saying that the Passover, The LORD's Last Supper is not good enough. Adding Paganism into Christianity is disgusting and one of the worst things that you can do. Think of the first two commandments.
Thou shalt have no other gods before me. - Exodus 20:3
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Exodus 20:4-6
Some Things Don't Mix
When it comes to our precious Christian faith, some things just do not mix. We think of the Israelites and all the times they started putting up Idols and false gods up in Israel. This is so insulting to our LORD. Why would we do such a thing? He gave us a wonderful holiday to observe and to practice and then it seems like Christians go back to the false gods just like the Israelites did. It's gross, its disgusting!
And I will destroy your high places,
and cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and my soul shall
abhor you. Lev 26:30
Keep The Passover Holy
Keep the Passover Holy, for thousands of years it pointed to our precious LORD Jesus Christ coming to earth to offer His life as a sacrifice for our sins. Do not taint it with false religion. The LORD will not accept your observation of the Passover with something pagan! It is fornication, it is adultery!
The LORD Abhors Easter
You must not have any other gods before our God or even with our God. This is sick and depraved. Think of the Israelites. For sure you read the Bible and say, I would of never worshiped the golden calf, maybe you say you would not of even done those things. However, I say to you, if you are observing Easter, you are, Plain and simple!
