Some Bible scholars think that 1446 B.C.E. was the year of the Exodus from Egypt for the Israelites. That would mean that roughly 3,471 years ago this event took place. We happen to agree that Amenhotep II and Not Ramses was the Pharaoh of the Exodus. There is just too much evidence to support that Amenhotep II was Pharaoh of Egypt.
Who Was the Pharaoh of the Exodus?
It’s a complex question to answer—and there are countless theories about this man’s identity.
VisitThe Law At This Time
Think of the Israelites at this time. They have not yet received the Law. They had a few things like circumcision and knew they were descended from Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. In fact they did not even know the name of God at this time. So, at this time they were pretty much under whatever authority where they were located. As for the Law of God they pretty much knew nothing. No doubt they were probably eating Pork at this time, no sabbath observed, pretty much living life however they wanted.
Slavery
Slavery today seems like a horrible thing. However, slavery is better than living a filthy life alienated from God. We see the poor choices that the Israelites made even after receiving the Law of God. This slavery they were in was a representation of sin. We are all slaves of sin today, and like the Israelites we need to be free of it. However, who will deliver us from sin? The answer is the same one that delivered Israel from slavery. See how this works?
Law and Statutes
We have something today that the Israelites did not have back then. The Law of Christ! However, unlike Israel's opportunity, we do not have a government that follows the Law of God. So, today you can pretty much make up your own rules and do as you wish. Yet, the LORD said "I will write my law upon their hearts and minds." - Heb 8:6-12. So we, in a lawless society, can keep the Law of God.
The Constitution of Governments
So, every government writes their own constitution. Basically, this is a foundation for their laws to govern their subjects. Some I guess would be perceived as better than others, but who really cares when we have a perfect Law given to Moses from the mouth of God and then elaborated on by Christ the LORD. Most governments have a type of "Freedom of Religion" in their constitution. Think of how disgusting this is. They are free to do the most abased things and call it their religion. They are free to curse the True God and be a satanic religion. This is no constitution that the Elect admire. Being free to be as evil and twisted as you want to be isn't freedom at all. Real freedom comes from obeying the Law of God, everything else is slavery!
The Golden Calf
We can't help but think of that golden calf made by Aaron and the Israelites when Moses went into the Mountain for 40 days and nights. Here is a people that just witnessed the 10 miraculous plagues of Egypt, the pillars of fire and walked through the Red Sea on dry ground with a wall of water on both sides. Now, one may claim that they had not yet received the Law of God, so they didn't know not to make an idol. This is perhaps why the LORD forgave them for this sin. Yet, in a matter of a few weeks they went back to their pagan practices that they learned in the land of Egypt.
What Would You Have Done?
It is easy to think that you would not have donated your gold and jewelry to make the golden calf. It is easy now to think you would not have worshiped it. However, we realise that Aaron did not want to make it at first either, he was coerced into making it. We are but clay, God is the potter, let Him make the Laws and Statutes to follow. They are only for our benefit. Let no man tell you that you do not have to follow the Law of God. They do this to their own destruction and to yours! We like to think that we are good inherently but we are not. The inclination of our hearts and mind are evil all the time. In fact, so much so that the LORD Himself regretted creating man. Gen 6:6,7
Your Greatest Opportunity is Now!
So, you want to prove to the LORD that you are one of the good guys? You have an even greater opportunity than that of Israel. Even though you have seen no miracles, even though you are surrounded by lawless people, you can make the decision to follow God. This will take bravery, humility, and patience but, most of all it will take Love. Yes, your love for the LORD and His commands. He said, those who love Him will follow His commands.
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. John 14:21
